"A China-India FTA is probably not in the works because of agriculture. That's the same reason why every other FTA has trouble. China is the one economy that is willing to allow, or force, adjustment in agriculture. India isn't Most of the ASEAN countries are having a hard time with agriculture. You can't have an FTA without agriculture. You could have a 'closer economic relationship' or some other euphemism, but you cannot have a full trade FTA. You can’t liberalize unless you tackle agriculture..."
